Introduction
Mahmud Zahaf is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Buckingham, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Law with a specialization in Commercial and Corporate Law in 2012. His legal skills were refined in the United Kingdom as a valuable member of the MS – Legal Solicitors team. In 2013, Mahmud joined Zahaf & Partners Law Firm, marking a significant milestone in his career. Since then, he has built a robust portfolio, showcasing his expertise as a litigator in both commercial and civil domains. Beyond the courtroom, Mahmud has played a crucial role in managing large-scale projects and advising multinational corporations on the intricacies of the Libyan legal framework. His leadership has been instrumental in establishing branch offices and forming joint ventures, facilitating the entry of foreign entities into the Libyan market. Additionally, Mahmud’s strategic guidance on corporate structuring and investment activities, in line with Libyan Laws, has been invaluable to foreign investors seeking opportunities in Libya. His efforts have not only elevated the firm’s reputation but also strengthened the confidence of international clients in the Libyan legal system.
Experience
Mahmud has served as a legal advisor to Sahara Bank in Libya on matters related to banking laws and governance policy. He has also advised a major global defense and security business in Libya. His work includes drafting large-scale construction and cooperation agreements, advising many foreign oil and gas companies in Libya regarding the Libyan market and their dealings with the National Oil Corporation, and drafting and reviewing various MOUs, shareholders’ agreements, and business plans for various foreign companies in Libya. Mahmud has successfully negotiated and executed agreements on behalf of foreign companies operating in Libya and acted as the legal advisor for the establishment of Assiraj Bank, the largest privately-owned bank in Libya.
